Video Project

Hey, Everyone. Just finished my latest video project, which is an interview asking Durham College students about their program and the facilities they have access to.

So this video was a lot of fun to make, especially being someone who loves making videos. We started by setting up the actors in front of the camera and setting up the lighting and camera. Then we simply let the actors take care of the rest by answering the questions we had, and BOOM! I think our product turned out really well and looked very professional. Let me know what you all think.

Photo Project

Hey Everyone, just finished up another photography project and I wanted to show all of you, and tell you about my experience making this.

This project was a little different because it was my first group photography project. I normally work alone on my photography because it’s easier to have a single idea than to incorporate several ideas, but I think my group worked well on this, which is very important for any group to do. Once we had our idea set, we just had to execute it as efficiently as possible. With more people it was pretty easy to set up all of our equipment quickly. But then came the most important part; taking the photo.

So as you could probably tell, it’s hard to stay completely focus in a group environment, which isn’t always a bad thing. You should always enjoy what you do so it’s important that you have fun occasionally. Anyway, it took us several attempts to get the photo that we wanted. A lot of them were just minor tweaks like adjusting the lighting angle, turning the subject a little, or moving the camera an inch. Don’t be afraid to change things or try new things with your photos. But after a long day of shooting we came away with a photo we were all really happy withFinal

Fun Filming

Hey everyone! I just finished a new video! This video was fun for me to make because I didn’t have to take it too seriously. The idea was to communicate a message in a fun and light-hearted way so that it would be more memorable to those who receive it. In this particular instance the message was that getting the proper amount of sleep can give you more energy to be your best you.

However, this project was not without its challenges. It’s definitely a lot easier to make a video when you’re not in it. Unfortunately I had to deviate from the plan due to problems with my original actor, which obviously resulted in it taking longer, and a few limitations in terms of camera shots. But regardless I think it went pretty well. I also noticed that I had more shots than I needed when I went to edit, which made editing easier, because it gave me more options, so try and keep that in mind.

So learn from my mistakes and make sure your crew is set and prepared so that you can get the best results from shooting, and just like I did, don’t forget to have fun when you’re filming.

Tied Together

SOCIAL_A6_1

Hello my awesome people!! I’m very excited to tell you that I recently finished a photography project that I have been working on titled “Tied Together”. I’m also excited to walk you through my process for this project to maybe help you on your own projects as well as provide you with a little insight on my work methods.

Preparing for this project wasn’t too difficult, I simply cleared off my table outside, and then set up the shoes in several different ways to try and get the best photos of each, trying to use the light to try and highlight the most prominent features of the shoes. Now you may be asking, “why shoes?”, which is a good question because it’s obviously nothing unique. But shoes have always been important to me. Not necessarily because I needed the newest or nicest shoes, but because growing up as a twin I was always sharing clothes with my brother, except for our shoes, which was really important for me because it gave me just a little bit more individuality. That is why in all the photos the shoes are not pointing in the same direction. So this portfolio kinda tells a small story about my childhood.

This project was a small one that I just did in my backyard, but I’ve got much, much bigger projects coming in the future so make sure to stay tune for them. Good luck in all your photography and videography, and stay classy!

Who’s Behind the Camera?

Hey everyone, I figured that today I would tell you all about the importance of  visual marketing, more specifically in the photography industry. In an industry where you’re showing a static image, it’s important for people to be able to recognize and be able to associate with you, and not just your photos.

Social media is a great way for you to get your work to a wider audience because it allows you to not only show off your work, but see what everyone thinks of you and your work. There are different things you can do on social media to better present yourself on social media, like showing behind the scenes photos or footage. Popular fine-art photographer Miss Aniela markets herself on Facebook by not only showing BTS of her work, but she also allows her audience to comment on her work, and she does her best to respond to as many as possible. By doing this she is involving her community in her work and making them feel a stronger connection to her, and more inclined to stay involved in her work.

Being able to market yourself, and not only sell photos, but a photography experience is what separates good photographers from successful photographers. So moving forward try to look to expand your presence on social media so you not only keep your audience interested in your work, but in your life as well. Good luck!
